Virtual high-level event to launch the Global Report on Food Crises 2023
On 3 May 2023, the Global Network Against Food Crises will host a high-level virtual event to release the latest figures on how many people are facing acute hunger and malnutrition in crisis prone countries, in the Global Report on Food Crises 2023; the flagship publication of the Global Network Against Food Crises produced by the Food Security Information Network (FSIN) as a result of an analytical process involving 16 partners in the framework of the Global Network analytical efforts aimed at better understanding food crises.
This high-level virtual launch event will bring together leading humanitarian and development actors to discuss the Global Report’s findings and chart a collective response to the acute hunger situation the world confronts today. The event will be moderated by Reena Ghelani, United Nations Famine Prevention and Response Coordinator.
The event will provide an opportunity to:
- Share the latest evidence and analysis of acute food insecurity and malnutrition, drivers and trends, drawing attention to the Phase 5 countries
- Place the findings in a broader context of global shocks – economic crisis, changing climate, looming budget cuts – that are putting poor countries on a spiral of deterioration
- Confirm the political commitment to addressing food crises
