Asia is a region characterized by unique agricultural and economic opportunities and challenges. In recent years, many Asian countries have made great strides in transforming their agricultural systems and reducing their numbers of poor and malnourished. Despite this progress, however, the region remains home to most of the world's poor and hungry, and faces additional challenges in the form of environmental degradation and climate change.
Now IFPRI's Regional Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support System in Asia (ReSAKSS-Asia) has launched a new website to encourage the exchange of knowledge and information regarding food security and nutrition strategies in Asia. Aiming to promote inclusive growth, poverty reduction, and improved nutritional outcomes, ReSAKSS-Asia focuses on:
- Strategic Analysis: Provide data, analytical tools, and policy analysis to the success and assess the impact of key development priorities
- Knowledge management: Develop a wealth of information regarding key indicators at continental, sub-regional, and national level and to facilitate access and dialogue to information
- Capacity strengthening and policy communication: Partner with individual countries and regional organizations to establish national Strategic Analysis and Knowledge Support Systems (SAKSSs) which will help tailor research to local needs and build bridges between research and policymaking through close collaboration with in-country research institutions, government ministries, and other stakeholders
